Whacky Gadget

Recorded in: Izy's Journal,News Journal — Isyldar @ 10:46 pm Cavern Time

Down by the Ferry Docks, it looks like Laxman’s left a gadget behind. My original speculation was that it had something to do with measuring the results of our attempts to brighten the algae. Those thoughts were confirmed by one of the other explorers examining the device at the time I was down there. Apparently Laxman commented that it’s to measure the illumination / brightness of the algae.

Currently, it is flashing between 0 and 1. (Thought what those numbers represent, I am unsure.) :)

I will post a KIshot of the device later. What I wouldn’t give to be allowed to push a couple buttons. :)

Er’cana

Recorded in: Izy's Journal,News Journal — Isyldar @ 2:11 pm Cavern Time

It would seem that the DRC released Er’cana in the Watcher’s Sanctuary yesterday. I was down in the Cavern for a short while today and Nad quickly took me down there after Marie Sutherland’s visit to D’ni Ae’gura. I have to say the pub is very blue.

It doesn’t look like Er’cana’s changed that much since my last visit there. At least not on the surface anyways. I didn’t get much of a chance to poke around before I had to head back to the surface. (Work, ya know.) Oi.

[ooc] Stupid computer crash. :( I do have to jet to work, but I would like to have stayed longer. [/ooc]

At any rate, I hope to be able to explore a little more in depth later on this week. With the long weekend coming up, I should be able to spend much time down there.

Marker Madness

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,Nah'dneb's Journal — Nadnerb @ 7:41 pm Cavern Time

Custom marker missions have only been enabled for a few days, yet we already have some truly insane ones out here. Yesterday, I received a mission for Teledahn by Rileyroo. Here are some pictures of the insanity.

I hadn’t even realized that you could walk up on the walls of the hut room before. It’s entirely solid up there, and it’ll make a great hiding spot. :D

That isn’t the only area with crazy markers though. There are a bunch above the rails wherever there are walkways, and they litter the hillside above the wooden docks.

I’m thinking about where to make my own killer mission… Kadish is neat, but it’s been easified by the new physics engine. Guess y’all will just have to wait and see. ;)

Cate takes over, Sharper on warpath

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 7:14 pm Cavern Time

Makes a great headline, doesn’t it? Today has been one of the more eventful days of the episode, storyline speaking. (of course everyone else is still just waiting around for Er’cana :P)

[OOC]

I have to say, I am greatly impressed with the engine improvements in this build. I can link into the Watcher’s Sanctuary, (a new public area) within a minute, when the population is over 100! Apparently they fixed the problem with avatars loading slowly that caused the “link in lag” that has plagued this game since the beginning. :D

[/OOC]

Now, to Cate. She showed up in the Watcher’s Sanctuary, (that name is way too long, it will be referred to as “the pub” hereafter) and announced that she was now a member of the DRC. She had been “graciously” voted in to replace Michael Engberg, who has been missing for several weeks now. The news was greeted less than warmly by a good number of explorers, who saw her as trying to steal control of the cavern. This was not helped by the fact that she brought up the prospect of bring advertising into the cavern to help fund the restoration. Though she stated that this was, “only bringing up some of our discussions – nothing has been decided.” many took to threats of leaving, and general hysteria at the idea, while others stated that if it was necessary to keep the cavern open, they would go along with it. This somehow gave many the idea that advertising was some sort of last resort to keep the game afloat, even though Cate specifically stated that “We are not close to closing the cavern.” She then, after a while headed out, for “I do have to get to a meeting with Mr. Sharper. We will talk more about this. Please keep an open mind. I will do the same.”

Some time later, Marie Sutherland made an appearance in the pub, and checked the place out while chatting with the explorers. After a few minutes, Cate linked in, and after some questioning, said that she was “here to listen to Marie explain things.” Marie had been the only member of the DRC to vote against Cate joining. There was some evident tension between the two during the rather brief conversation. However, the crowd of over 100 people insisted on grilling Cate about the possibility of in cavern advertising, and after a few minutes, she asked Marie to join her in a private Bevin to finish their conversation.

Later on, I heard that Sharper had shown up in the Uru Obsession Bevin and stated that he intended to try to find and kill the faction of bahro that seem to be against us. In the words of IB, “Sharper just told people that he wants to kill the bahro responsible for the killings… he wants to observe them…pick out the ones that seem to care about us and those that are against us and kill those against. says we can’t give them excuses and wait for them to kill again. UO is in an uproar.”

I can’t really imagine the bahro in general liking this scheme a whole lot. As Vormaen said, “we better watch our backs.” I hope sharper isn’t the next victim in this story. Based on his description of their fighting ability, I don’t really see how he intends to do this. Either way, this is a pretty disturbing development. There are those who suspect that this is not Sharper’s idea alone too. They point out that Cate went and met with Sharper earlier in the day, before the announcement, and that the DRC must be approving of this action for him to be announcing it like this.

I was personally present for both Cate’s and Marie’s Visit, so here are some quotes and pictures from the pub. ;) (There were over 100 people in the room and I could take KIpics without freezing for 10 minutes!!! Woot! :D)

(06/25 14:39:19) Cate Alexander: We are not close to closing the cavern.

(06/25 14:37:42) Cate Alexander: I am only bringing up some of our discussions – nothing has been decided.

(06/25 14:27:14) Cate Alexander: ResEngs will be filling in the gaps for strcutural analysis.

(06/25 14:25:02) Cate Alexander: Marie was not sure that I should be appointed to the Council.

(06/25 14:42:45) Cate Alexander: I do have to get to a meeting with Mr. Sharper. We will talk more about this. Please keep an open mind. I will do the same.

(06/25 16:46:01) Cate Alexander: I’m here to listen to Marie explain things.

(06/25 16:54:49) Cate Alexander: I was under the impression Marie would rather the cavern go down in rubble before she would allow advertising here.

Laxman visits Ae’gura

Recorded in: Herohtar's Journal,News Journal — Herohtar @ 3:11 pm Cavern Time

I came into the Cavern today to discover that Victor Laxman was in the City and about to speak to the explorers. I headed to the Nexus, only to find that it was already at the 100 person limit. Fortunately, there were some relayers in the GoG2 ‘hood, so I was still able to hear everything that was being said. Laxman’s speech was fairly short, and he didn’t answer many questions, but it was still good to hear from the DRC. I shall write here a summary of what he had to say.

Laxman spoke on two subjects today; the Great Zero, and the Bahro:

Great Zero

Laxman stated that, while the deaths have affected everyone, we are continuing to move forward. Last week, there was a spike in the GZ calibrations, and it is now ready to be activated. The DRC invites everyone to gather in your ‘hood GZs tomorrow, the 24th, at 4:00pm Cavern Time (16:00 KI time) to witness this exciting event. Everyone is encouraged to continue with the calibration missions, in order to make sure that the activation goes as planned.

In addition to the GZs activation, the progress from our calibration efforts have resulted in a new KI feature — custom marker missions. Laxman did not go into much detail on this, but did state that he believed “The Great Zero was used for KI coordinates and for surveying“.

Bahro

According to Laxman, the DRC have noticed a change in the Bahro’s activity level; while their activity has decreased within the cavern, it has increased in other Ages. However, these Ages are mainly ones that we explorers do not have access to, and the DRC are staying away from those Ages. Despite this, Laxman claims the DRC are doing their best to not restrict any areas, and are not delaying any Age releases due to Bahro activity.

After these statements, Laxman suddenly vanished without a sound.

[OOC]

It seems Laxman crashed out at this point, which I find slightly amusing. :) As he did not return, I assume that was all he had to say and did not find it worth coming back just to say goodbye.

[/OOC]

No more DRC members have been seen in the Cavern at this time, but I’m willing to bet we will see more of them soon enough. In the meantime, I’m off to a Karate black belt ceremony on the surface…

Episode 6: A New Light

Recorded in: News Journal — Isyldar @ 10:14 am Cavern Time

[OOC]

Well everyone, the next Episode in the URU saga begins tomorrow. I know that I, for one, am terribly excited. :) (And disappointed that I can’t be there, but you can’t have everything they say.)

At the very least, I am looking forwards to getting together with everyone in the Cavern as soon as we all can. Exploring Er’cana is going to be fun, and I hope that we can arrange a hood-wide gathering to do it.

For the first couple days, however, I am hoping that we can count on everyone in the neighborhood to contribute to the website, so that we have current information being posted. Both Nadnerb and myself are away from the Cavern for the weekend, so we won’t be able to keep the world up to speed on what’s happening.

I’ve spoken with Robert F. Caine about this, and he’s said he’ll try and post a couple chatlogs of goings-on. Perhaps Herohtar and debshee could help too? :)

In the mean time, thanks for all your help, and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday!

Google Ads

Recorded in: Site News — Isyldar @ 6:07 pm Cavern Time

I”m sure everyone’s noticed, but I’ve added Google Ads to the website that should only appear when you are not logged into it.

Not sure I have much else to add, but this: If you should come across an add that is really out of character for the site, or is just something that we shouldn’t be advertising, please let me know.

Send an email to isyldar@urulive.guildaxis.net  That way I can make sure that such advertising is removed. :)

Thanks again!

Going on a surface trip

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,Nah'dneb's Journal — Nadnerb @ 1:14 pm Cavern Time

I’ll be heading out, tomorrow, June 20th. I’m off to New York, the state, not the city. I’ll be in Rochester for a couple days, then heading down to Albany on Friday. I’ll be returning Monday, two days into the episode. While I’ll technically have internet access while in Albany, I’ll most likely be very busy, and you probably won’t hear anything from me. Anyway, just letting you know where I’m disappearing to. I hear that Robert has agreed to post any major occurrences while Izy is working, and I’m outta state, so the site should remain updated. Cya’ll when I return, and Shorah.

Completed the Journey

Recorded in: Masoren's Journal — Masoren @ 11:11 am Cavern Time

I completed Yeesha’s Journey today; returning to the cleft by way of the fissure. Her hologram had some interesting things to say about the bahro. Nothing of great consequence, I am sure.

She mentioned that she had added clothing to my Relto that should be worn to show what side I was on, when sides were to be taken. Something to consider given what I’ve read of recent events in the Cavern…

I think I shall visit the cleft from time to time; but for now, I must find some help to complete Eder Delin.

Latest Trip

Recorded in: Masoren's Journal — Masoren @ 9:59 am Cavern Time

This latest trip has kept me away from the Cavern for the last few weeks. It is unfortunate, but I seem to have missed the release of Minkata. Isyldar tells me that the Age is pretty vast, and I must say that I look forward to exploring it when I get back. Happily, that’ll be in just a couple days. :)

Izy has to work a lot, so I doubt I’ll see him in the Cavern, but perhaps I’ll run into Nadnerb or Nah’dneb this Sunday. I’ll definitely need to get some help to complete the puzzle in Eder Delin. I am told that it is now available again.
