Photos!

Putting this out to everyone, so I hope there’s some feedback. :) I would like to get some group photos of the entire gang. The Nadnerb’s Bevin crew, as well as everyone else who’s joined the site since it’s inception.

The plan would be to incorporate as many people as possible into the banner image and/or set up a new Imager on the site for everyone to be a part of. Please help out by using this post as a central comm point for organizing the date / time

I’ve tentatively put this post on the caendar for September 6th, at 7pm KI-time. If anybody can’t make the event, or has another suggestion, comment it in, and we’ll work out what we can!

Four Pillars

I have been contemplating in Jalak, and I believe that I have come up with a game of my own. For lack of a better name, I’ve called it, “Four Pillars”.

For this game, you will need a semi-complex setup of the Jalak grid, and 2 to 4 players. The object is to be the first player to raise their pillar to its maximum height.

Round 2 - commences when all four players have reached 3 points.

Each player takes their turn (it matters not who starts, but play proceeds clockwise), and has 5 moves. You may play one of three shapes onto a lowered pillar: Ball, SmallCube, LargeCube. (LargeCubes may not be played in Round 1).

  • Ball – raises area pillar(s) by 1
    • Exception 1 – placed on opponent pillar that is not at level 0 (cumulative balls on opponents pillar are + points in that case)
    • Exception 2 – in Round 2, if the ball is placed in the lowered pillar of the outer row(s), those two opponents pillars are each lowered by 1. (same rule applies where if an opponent’s pillar is at 0, the negative point becomes positive.)
  • SmallCube – used to raise “surface pillar” between two of these. Raised “surface pillar” remains for the single turn following the turn in which they are raised. No more than 3 of these may be played in a given turn.
  • LargeCube – may only be played once by each player per game. Must be placed in the lowered column near the wall between two pillars. This will lower both corner pillars by 5 points. (Please note that if a pillar hits level 0 before 5 points have been removed, it is raised by the remaining points. eg) Pillar @ lvl3, is lowered to 0 and then up by 2.)
    In addition, this outer pillar becomes blocked for the next turn. (I suggest raising it by 1 level so everyone is aware it is out of play.)

Once an object has been placed (or lands) in a lowered pillar, it is considered played. This is regardless of the turn player’s original intent.
The force field should be turned on for this game, at least in Round 2 to prevent the Jalak objects from leaving the arena. If the force field is off, and you lose one, you do not get to claim the result for that object at the end of your turn, and you cannot regenerate it.

A few points of note, and or etiquette: No pillars moved during a player’s turn. These are moved at the end of the turn. Each player is required to move their own pillar, and the player whose turn has just ended is required to move any of the “surface” or “playing” pillars that need adjusting.

I have not yet had a chance to play this and determine if it is a viable game or not, but I look forward to finding someone (or a group of someones), who have the patience to try it out. :)

Regarding End of turn: All five moves of your turn must be used. If you are unable to place + points in your own favor, or are otherwise unable to move, you must give + points to your opponent(s), starting with the opponent who has the least points, and moving clockwise around the grid.

Saturday Trip

Finally I went back down! Took me long enough if I say so myself! Anyway, The main reason I went down was to see if theres an easier way to get to the Controls for Pellet Baking in ErCana. There Was! A new friend of mine, named DaVinci, gave me a link to Ercana through a Marker. I found alot of cool stuff and got a Relto Page, Firemarbles! Fire! Fire! Anyway, before that, I was hanging out in Sharper’s office and found this note. Guess Dr. Sutherland saw Ol’ what’s-his-name….:

Big Problems, the house on Noloben is NOT empty. I met someone there today. My D’ni isn’t great but I spoke with him for a while. Yeah, He’s D’ni and, as we figured, he knows alot about the creatures. A WHOLE Lot.

We Obviously need a meeting ASAP.

Going back down to the Cavern!

Episode 8: Deception

I realize that there is another entry on this topic, however, I wished to bring these photos to everyone’s attention. :) They haven’t posted any text about the upcoming episode; however, my suspicion is that we’re getting a night-time Relto page, and access to the Guild pubs.

“Deception” (beginning early September)

Despite the ongoing battles of the Bahro and the threat of the coming war, the DRC continues its efforts to introduce a new Guild system to the cavern. Toward that cause, new Guild pubs are introduced providing Guild members with new areas to congregate and socialize.

Meanwhile, Phil Henderson continues to spread information regarding the Bahro and their conflicts as a former DRC member returns to the cavern. What new information does he have to share and will it lead to salvation or destruction?

Kadish Tolesa

I paid a visit to Kadish Tolesa today. It has been a long time since I was there. Well, at least a few months.

The Age still spooks me. I have never been able to determine if the Age is entirely carved out of a single tree, or if so many have grown together to create the massive result we see there. It is humbling either way, to say the least.

I also wonder, at the purpose of the set of stairs at the back of the “pillars” room, which you can set the pillars up to, but simply lead you back down to the main level. Much as in many Ages written by D’ni, Kadish Tolesa is one of intricate complexity. I think that, with the right (spelunking) equipment, I could spend many months there exploring.

Alas, for time, I must speculate and research instead.

A note on cookies

Alex’s latest post prompted me to make a note about this. I’ve added a new feature to the navigation of the site. If you’re a first-time visitor, you’ll see a “Turn Page” image beside the page folds. This disappears when you click on it, and a cookie is set so that the site knows you’ve already been here, and hides the images for a month. (That’s when it expires)

So, if you’re prompted about cookies for the site, they’re all good. :)
