Museum Age – Portals & Map

Authored by Nadnerb on April 27, 2007

Here is a copy of the map of the Museum Age, which indicates the locations of the different pods. It looks like there are 13 pods indicated on the map…though the pods that we have access to are numbered higher than that?

Museum Age Map
You can find this map in the D’ni Ae’gura Museum. It was dropped off by Cate Alexander some time ago.

Nadnerb has also kindly provided us with an automatic Portal Time calculator for all the Pod Ages.

  1. [...] In doing some research on the site traffic, I see a lot of people coming in looking for Portal times. I wonder if Nadnerb is up to populating the Museum Age Portals text with information on this… [...]

  2. Yeah, ok, I’ll run my calc and post a list as soon as you get back to me on how to edit these thingies. :D

Ok.. maybe not “as soon as” I’ll probably be asleep, but I’ll get to it. Until then, this is Nad, signing off.

  4. For the record, your tetsonot portal time was off by about 6 minutes this morning.

    Comment by Isyldar — July 11, 2007 @ 9:25 am Cavern Time

  5. if you could give me the exact time that the portal appeared, I could correct it very easily. ;)

  6. As I did not see it mentioned here yet, just for the record and being complete:
The 4 pods we can visit are numered just as shown on the map. Standing in the Pod, however, one has to know which way of the D’nu numbers on floor and ceiling is up. This is quickly discovered once the nonexisting number variance is noticed (i.e. the up-side-down variance).

  7. Well, two years, and the Payiferen time was only off by 4 minutes. Impressive.

  8. Seriously not bad at all! :) I have to say that I am in fact rather impressed.

  9. HI Thank you so much for putting this time table together. I would have never been able to collect these gates without it.

  1. Then, if this works, we can paste this bit back into the museum age times page, and drop this one.

-side note: looking at the links bar on the right, I notice that there is a “categories” heading, with Masoren’s and debshee’s journal links…. so where are Isyldar and Nadnerb?

    Comment by Nadnerb — May 29, 2007 @ 10:22 am Cavern Time

  2. Heh. I had originally taken ours out of the categories section…I suppose I could put them back in…or remove the categories section altogether. However, I think I’ll leave it until the site redesign.

  3. believe it or not, i didn’t realize that the first line under the age headers was an automatic, continuous, countdown clock until the next portal. heh.

  4. Changed to make that more obvious. :D

  5. Negilahn was to the second. Nice work! :D

  6. Dereno portal showed up when count-down was at 15:42

    Comment by Isyldar — July 30, 2007 @ 9:34 pm Cavern Time

  7. All of the portals have been a little bit behind today. 1 or 2 minutes. Waiting for tetsonot now, so I’ll see if that one’s out.

    Comment by Masoren — September 3, 2007 @ 5:45 pm Cavern Time

  8. Tetsonot’s portal showed up almost 4 minutes before I was expecting it…

    Comment by Masoren — September 3, 2007 @ 5:58 pm Cavern Time

  9. This had drifted almost an hour off time… I’ve recalibrated all the times. They should be within 20 seconds for at least a few weeks. Right now it’s accurate to the second. :) I have, as of now, attended four consecutive Payiferen portal openings.. I wonder if that’s some sort of record.

The last time these were updated was in May. :P

    Comment by Nadnerb — February 13, 2008 @ 4:40 pm Cavern Time

  10. I love your Portal Times section! It’s very easy to read and use, and it clearly spells out my timezone.

I hope to see you in-Cavern!

    Comment by Susa'n — February 18, 2010 @ 5:09 pm Cavern Time

  11. And after 2 years it is still accurate to within about 15 seconds.

    Good job!

  12. Thanks for this great service!
FYI, portal times I recorded today:
    Negilahn 2010-03-09 01:18:16 -0700
    Dereno 2010-03-09 02:32:58 -0700
    Payiferen 2010-03-09 03:07:42 -0700
    Tetsonot 2010-03-09 05:53:17 -0700

  13. The portal times are not accurate for the Pacific Daylight Savings Timezone (PDT). The times are an hour early, i.e., the times pertain to the Pacific Standard Timezone (PDT).

    Comment by Susa'n — April 10, 2010 @ 5:24 am Cavern Time

  14. Time ahead by about one hour on all times, EST. Adjust for daylight savings time?

    Comment by Jorm — April 11, 2010 @ 10:40 am Cavern Time

  15. Well, just checked Dereno, EST, hopped in, waited a half hour before projected time, waited ten minutes past… nothing. No easy way to say this, but I think your timer’s broken at the moment…

An easy way to fix it, and to know/clarify, at a glance, that it’s fixed… probably give both local-time-zone info *and* cavern-time-zone info… every KI is equipped with a cavern-time set watch, afterall…

    Comment by Trunkuza — July 3, 2010 @ 12:49 am Cavern Time

  16. I have been to the different places now. No one seems to be right. Would be great if you could update the times!

Comment by Beyond The Mind — July 9, 2010 @ 3:28 pm Cavern Time

  17. I’m sitting in Payiferen right now. (I seem to only ever have free time AFTER your timers say that Negilahn has already opened…) and staring at the beams of light gave me an idea…

Why not have a few pictures alongside the map of the portal age? You know, showing how Payiferen looks when each other age’s portal pops up. That way, we all have something a little more to compare to than just a timer. . .

    Comment by Trunkuza — July 13, 2010 @ 12:18 pm Cavern Time

  18. I rather like the idea. :) Would you care to volunteer the photos? If you can get them to me in the next few days I can arrange it within the next week or so.

    Send to: isyldar@uruexploration.net

    Comment by Isyldar — July 15, 2010 @ 7:29 am Cavern Time

  19. Pushed the seed times forward one hour. I have no idea why this seems to get messed up when it crosses over DST changes, it just adds seconds to a date object. It’ll probably be wrong for anyone outside of the US now… The next time I’m in cavern for some portals, I’ll get new times and get photos.
